In a culture that encourages self-definition, self-promotion, and personal control, The Book of Us offers a timely and necessary challenge: to step out of the center of our own story and rediscover ourselves through the lens of Scripture. Many people today—even within the church—struggle with a disconnect between belief and daily living. Faith can become routine, intellectual, or compartmentalized, rather than something that actively shapes identity, decisions, and behavior. It is easy sometimes to let one’s faith become a mundane part of life, hearing the same Bible stories over again but not drawing the connection between Scripture and our daily living – seeing ourselves in God’s word.
This book addresses that gap by focusing not just on what we believe, but on who we are and how we live in response. The Book of Us speaks directly to a modern audience searching for authenticity, purpose, and transformation. It invites readers to move beyond surface-level spirituality and into a deeper, more honest engagement with their faith. At a time when many are asking,
“What does it really mean to live this out?” this book provides both the challenge and the framework to begin that journey. This books shows how deep and rich the Bible is and how God is writing a beautiful story about us, not just characters on a page... It is The Book of Us.

"Well written, very informative. The Book of Us allows its readers to gain greater understanding of the Bible and how it relates to our human nature. I’m not much of a reader but I found it to be so compelling and interesting I actually read the entire book in one sitting."

"I have always pondered if there was a book in the Bible with my name: Denise – what would it say? I realize with Tim’s book I am already written in the pages of Scripture. I learned to read it in a very different way when I realized it is a book about me. His book is a very easy read, not technical or overly theological. Very informative and challenges you to develop a more Christ-like nature."

Chapter 1: Beginning
Human nature and human character have been studied for many years. Eventually it became apparent that numerous human characteristics are common and often predictable. These have become known as textbook human behaviors.
Saying something is "textbook" means it is common, often predictable, and ultimately applicable. A look at the Bible from the thirty-thousand-feet view will show us that it was actually written about human nature and character. We can see predictable human behavior in its pages.
God didn't have the Bible commissioned because He needed it. It was written as the ultimate instruction book for humans who seek a more successful life. God knows we need all the help we can get, so He gave us this amazing book to guide us. The book is for us, not Him. The key to understanding it begins with understanding our human nature and tendencies. From there we have ultimate wisdom at our fingertips, contained within its pages.
The common things we look for in life are happiness, fulfillment, comfort, hope, love, and so forth. The Bible tells us not only how to get these but also what we are doing that prevents us from having them.
Scripture says a great deal about our human nature, including how it fits with God's ways and how it conflicts with God's ways. Once we gain an understanding of where and how we fit into its pages, our journeys can really begin.
Billy Graham once said, "I have never known a man who gave his life over to God and regretted it."
Also, a common thought is, "One thing is for certain: if you change your mind, the devil will always take you back!"
The goal of the Bible is the salvation of humankind. The Bible lays out detailed narratives of the nature of humankind, including how it works and how it impacts life on earth as mortals. Furthermore, it goes into some detail of how God really intends our lives to be and then offers hope to anyone willing to accept that God loves us and wants nothing but the best for us—every day and forever...
